Miley Cyrus and Jessie J may have caught the world's attention when they chopped off their flowing locks - but the majority of British women are not as adventurous.

According to the latest study, unadventurous Brits are stuck in a hairstyle rut with a staggering 80 per cent of women opting for a safe hairstyle.

While they say a new hairstyle can change your life, the latest study showed that 60 per cent of women would rather change their style of clothes than change their hairstyle.

And it's the mature women over the age of 55 who are more adventurous with their looks than those in their thirties - because they don't care what people think of them.

While 44 per cent of people feel that they are due a change of hairstyle, most of them do not know what else to do with their hair and are too scared to change what suits them.

The poll also revealed confident Londoners do not care what others think of their hairstyle as opposed to the more conscious women of East Anglia.

It’s no surprise to see that women in their mid-twenties are lusting after Kate Middleton’s locks, while women in their late teens want shiny slick hair like Kim Kardashian.  

Simon Comins, Buying Director at Superdrug, who carried out the survey, said: 'The research shows that women are obviously bolder with their hair colour choice than their hair style.

'It’s great to see the older generation leading the way with adventurous styles. 'It’s interesting to see that girls in their teens are most influenced by advice from online forums; to cater for all ages who turn to the virtual world we have just launched a new blog, Look At Me which has been specially designed to educate women on different trends and looks for all styles and ages.'

TV presenter Emma Willis is replacing Brian Dowling as the host of Big Brother.

Dowling, 34, who won the reality TV show in 2001 and Ultimate Big Brother in 2010, has hosted the programme for two years, since it moved to Channel 5.

Willis, 37, who is married to former Busted star Matt, is the host of spin-off show Big Brother's Bit On The Side.

The presenter, who will also front Celebrity Big Brother, said: 'I am thrilled to have been offered this job.

'I'm a fan first and foremost so to be able to front the show is going to be amazing. Roll on the summer!'

Channel 5 director of programmes Ben Frow said: 'Emma is a natural on screen, she's made the spin-off show her own and now the time is totally right for her to step up.

'Thrilled': Emma will move from the spin-off show which she's presented for the last two years, while the programme waves goodbye to Brian Dowling, who's been hosting since 2010

'I know she'll take Big Brother to the next level and I can't wait to see her dealing with the housemates both famous and soon- to-be famous.

'I'd also like to thank Brian Dowling for doing such a sterling job over the last two years. He's been a big part of the success of the show and I wish him the very best.'

Reports had previously suggested that Willis was in talks for the role, and that she was seen by channel chiefs as a true successor to Davina McCall, who helmed the show for its whole ten-year Channel 4 reign.

Emma started her presenting career at MTV in 2002 for TRL, and moved onto other shows including I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! NOW, T4 and Girlfri3nds.

Now, twenty years after we all misted up at the delightful sight of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan falling in love across the country, the pair have been reunited.

What's more, they've added the film's director - Nora Ephron - into the mix.

Ephron, who died last June, is having a posthumous release with Lucky Guy on Broadway, and has cast a certain Mr Hanks, 56, as the lead.

Meg, 51, was out in force to lend her support to Hanks on Monday night at the show's opening night in New York.

The actress belied her 51 years and looked smart and stylish in a black trouser suit for the occasion.

He plays tabloid journalist Mike McAlary, but wasn't too keen on taking the role at first when the esteemed director asked him to six years ago.

'I said, "Well, that guy's sure a jerk!" I used another word besides jerk," he told NPR.

"And she laughed and she said, "Well, he kinda was. But he was kinda great, too."'

Ephron moved to New York and landed a job as a reporter at the New York Post, so the subject matter was close to her heart.

Hanks said she never stopped being a reporter.

'I think Nora rode her life as a journalist, literally, as far as [she] possibly could,' he said.

'And then, when it came time, she took those same journalistic sensibilities and turned to books, and the same journalistic sensibilities are in her films.

'Everything she's ever done, everything I've ever done with her, has really been sort of about reporting on modern times.'

Lucky Guy, which opened on Monday, will run for a limited run at New York's Broadhurst Theatre.

According to NPR: 'The play is set in the tabloid newsrooms, streets and bars of New York during the '80s and '90s, when the city was facing a crack epidemic and pockets of police corruption. But more than anything else, said director George Wolfe.

In the sitting room of Eileen and Warner Billington’s home, the black and white photograph on the right takes pride of place.

It shows the couple as teenage sweethearts, cuddled up in a photobooth during a charabanc outing to the seaside at Rhyl, North Wales, in 1950.

You would naturally assume that Eileen, now 78, and Warner, 79, had been together ever since.

n fact, they married only two years ago â€" after spending six decades apart.

The first part of their love story ended in heartbreak, after Eileen’s father ruled that, at 18 and 19, they were too young to get married. Both went on to enjoy happy marriages, have children, celebrate their golden weddings and become grandparents.

But they never forgot each other â€" and Eileen always treasured that photobooth snap, even asking her sister to look after it in case her husband asked her to destroy it.

Six decades later, after both were widowed, Eileen and Warner met again through a mutual friend.

They realised they still wanted to be together and, with nothing now to stop them, finally got married.

Yesterday Eileen said: ‘It’s as though we’ve never been apart. As well as loving each other, we are good companions, just like when we first met. In fact, we are just like an old married couple.’

The couple grew up in Smethwick, West Midlands. They met in 1950 after Warner, 17, noticed Eileen Lockley, then 16, walking down the street with her sister Margaret, whose boyfriend was a friend of his.

‘I saw her and I was smitten,’ said Warner. ‘I waited for them to come out of Margaret’s boyfriend’s house and come back up the road.

‘I got a pair of garden shears and pretended to cut the hedge outside my parents’ house. When they passed, I said, “Hello Margs, who’s that with you?” and we got talking.’  Shortly afterwards, Warner enlisted in the RAF and was stationed at  St Athan in South Wales. Eileen,  an aspiring tap dancer, worked for the gas board and performed in pantomimes.

Eventually Warner wrote to Eileen and asked her out on their first date. After that they wrote to each other every day.

Two years later they decided to become engaged, but Eileen’s  widowed father said they were too young. Warner said: ‘I thought Eileen’s father was wrong, but I didn’t propose. Somehow, we just parted after that. It was my fault, I just went my own way.’

In 1956, Eileen married Jack Lenton. They had a son and a daughter and ran a hotel in Newquay, Cornwall. Jack died in 2006.

Meanwhile Warner got married, to Gillian, in 1957. The couple had three sons and were together for 53 years until Gillian died in 2010.

Eileen and Warner did not see or speak to each other after they split, but a friend of Warner’s used to stay at Eileen’s hotel and she would always ask how Warner was.

After the friend told Eileen about Warner’s bereavement they picked up the phone and spoke again for the first time in six decades.

A year later, Warner plucked up the courage to ask Eileen to visit him at his home in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands.

Eventually, with the approval of both families, Warner moved in with Eileen in Newquay, and on December 6, 2011, they married.

Warner said: ‘We both often wondered about what might have happened if things had worked out differently. But we don’t dwell on it now. We are both reasonably fit and healthy for our ages and are looking forward not backward.’

And Emma McQuiston will be making history when she marries as she is  destined to become Britain’s first  black marchioness.

She is marrying into our most eccentric aristocratic family â€" her future father-in-law, Alexander Thynn, the seventh Marquess of Bath, is famous for his harem of ‘wifelets’.

But the daughter of a Nigerian oil baron says she faces racism and snobbery from the upper classes unwilling to accept her.

‘There has been some snobbishness, particularly among the much older generation,’ she told society magazine Tatler.

‘There’s class and then there’s the racial thing. It’s a jungle and I’m going through it and discovering things as I grow up.

‘I’m not super-easily offended but it’s a problem when someone’s making you feel different or separate because of your race. I have never had anything horrible said or happen, but it is something you sense. You can just tell with some people.’ 

The 26-year-old aspiring television chef will marry Ceawlin Thynn, Viscount  Weymouth, in June at his family seat Longleat after an 18-month courtship.

She said: ‘We’d been to a party at  [nightclub] Annabel’s and in the middle of the night he woke me up to ask me and I made him do it again and again until it sunk in.’

The arts graduate and former head girl will initially be a viscountess, becoming Marchioness of Bath when her husband inherits the title.

She intends to redecorate some of the family home â€" possibly including the graphic Kama Sutra room created by her future father-in-law.

‘We’re restoring it back to classic English because, though this is great fun, living with it all the time can be a bit much,’ she added.

Miss McQuiston, the daughter of Oxford graduate Ladi Jadesimi, who owns an oil-rig company, has acted in the past and runs a cookery blog.

She has known her fiance since she was four and spent Christmases and Easters at the historic house and park throughout her childhood.

Last year, Viscount Weymouth, 38, took over the running of the Longleat estate from his 80-year-old father â€" who has had at least 75 mistresses he refers to as ‘wifelets’.

Miss McQuiston said of her future father-in-law: ‘He wanted a happy, harmonious life with lots of women and lots of babies. That’s what he set out for in the Sixties and that’s what he’s stuck to.’

But happily, she does not expect her future husband to follow suit with the wifelets â€" or the eccentric dress sense.

‘We do dress up, but mostly as  cowboys and Indians, or cheetahs [for parties]...,’ she said.

She added she hopes to become a mother soon, saying: ‘I want babies and I’d love to have them soon. I want to be a young mum.’

The family live in a set of private  apartments in their country house, surrounded by the 100,000-acre estate in idyllic countryside in Warminster, Wiltshire.

The safari park first opened in 1966 and claims to be the first drive-through safari park outside Africa.

It is the home of Anne the elephant, Britain’s last circus elephant who was rescued after the Mail was passed footage of her being abused.

Miss McQuiston’s mother, Suzanna, said: ‘I always felt there might be this slight snobbish thing about  anyone who’s black, but it seems everybody has taken Emma into their hearts and they love her.’

She's excitedly preparing for the birth of her second child.

However, like many women in the same situation, Jennifer Ellison admits she is fearful of suffering from postnatal depression again.

The former Brookside star suffered from the baby blues after giving birth to son Bobby in 2010 and is adamant she won't let it get as serious if she struggles with it again.

She told the new issue of Now magazine: 'It’s already crossed my mind. But I hope I should be OK...

'I don’t think I’ll get it with this baby.'

Jennifer believes her traumatic 92 hour labour with Bobby - which resulted in an emergency Caesarean section - contributed to her illness.

She explained: 'I think I got it last time because of the shock of the labour â€" it was extremely stressful and very scary. Four days of no sleep and then a baby!

'Everything was negative in my mind. Thankfully my mum also had postnatal depression, so she recognised the signs.'

The former Hell's Kitchen star ended up taking antidepressants for six months.

She added: 'I hope I’ll notice the signs straightaway â€" fear of the unknown and of not being a good mum.

'If it happens, it’s treatable. I’m fine now, so if it starts again it’s something we can sort, hopefully.'

Even though Jennifer had such a traumatic labour with Bobby, she is looking forward to the arrival of baby No.2.

She enthused: 'I’m sure I should be frightened,
but I’m not. My poor husband Robbie was absolutely traumatised but I was like: "I want to do it again!"

'I loved the whole experience. I know it sounds weird, but I knew the pain had a purpose. Maybe I feel fine because Robbie’s so supportive. He didn’t leave my side throughout the whole of my labour. I’m so lucky.
