For those who puzzle over how supermodels stay so whippet thin, a former Vogue editor has lifted the lid on the horrific lengths some go to to maintain their wispy waistlines and cut-glass hipbones.

Kirstie Clements, sensationally fired from her role as editor of Australian Vogue last May, has written a tell-all book about the fashion industry, claiming some models eat tissue paper to feel full, starve themselves for days on end, spend frequent stints on hospital drips, and are often so weak with hunger they struggle to keep their eyes open.

As reported by Georgia Graham in the International Business Times, The Vogue Factor also explains that within the fashion world there is 'thin', and then there is 'Paris thin' - a term that describes the size of a model who has starved their already fragile body down two dress sizes in order to be cast in big oversea shows.

In her controversial tome, Clements says she once spent three days on a shoot with a model who didn't see her eat a single meal - and that on the final day she could barely stand or keep her eyes open.

She also reveals how an Russian model once told her that her flat mate was a 'fit' model - a model whose body is used by top designers for clothes-fittings - and therefore spent lots of time on a drip.

Clements spent 25 years at Australian Vogue - her book's subhead is 'from front desk to editor' - and steered the ship for 13 of them.

Her departure was sudden - she was called to a meeting and dismissed, forced to clean her office and leave without bidding farewell to her staff - and she was replaced quickly by Edwina McCann, editor of Harper's Bazaar.

Clements describes her sacking simply as a 'regime change' that was part and parcel of the dramatic Vogue narrative, but some critics believe the new book - her first - is her way of exacting revenge on the Rupert Murdoch-owned title.

He infamously ended up backing out of proposing to Sam Faiers on The Only Way Is Essex's disastrous live episode in December.

However, it looks like Joey Essex finally got the bottle to go through with it in Wednesday episode's of the reality show.

While neither Sam or Joey, both 22, have confirmed their engagement, it's clear to see the club promoter has clearly asked for her hand in marriage in a sneak peek of the new episode.

After telling Sam he had planned a surprise trip to Dubai for the pair of them in Sunday's episode, Joey whisked his girlfriend of 11 months to the Middle East with the ITV2 cameras accompanying them.

This will be the third proposal in the series - previously Mark Wright ask Lauren Goodger for her hand in marriage in a pub car park, while Mario Falcone popped the question to Lucy Mecklenburgh on a yacht in Ibiza.

However, both couples have since called off their engagements, so let's hope Sam and Joey have better luck!

The proposal comes after Joey was seen showing the ring to Sam's older sister Billie at a roller-skating party on Sunday's episode.

He told her: 'I don't know how to put it in a professional manner...

'Basically I want to propose to Sam. I’ve had it planned for ages but I want to do it in the right way.'

The shop owner added that he was planning on taking Sam away to pop the question and he said: 'I’ve got loads of things to do I’ve got to go and get her passport.'

Billie was thrilled with the news and said: 'She isn't going to have a clue'.

Later in the episode Joey showed Billie the sparkling ring he planned to propose with and Billie was stunned by the dazzler.

The Minnie's Boutique owner said: 'Oh Joey it's perfect.'

He explained how he had picked out the style and the diamonds were set into a white gold band.

Joey surprised Sam at the roller disco party and as the pair went to leave he showed her he had all her bags packed and asked her: 'Do you want to go Dubai?'

The drama continues in The Only Way Is Essex on Wednesday 3rd April on ITV2 at 10pm.

'People used to ask, when are you getting married?' Shelly Crocker says, leaning across the table at a north Seattle donut shop next to her wife, Sandy Kibort, and their daughter, Emma Kibort-Crocker.

'I always told them, "Well, the entire state of Washington has to vote on it first."'

Ms Crocker and Ms Kibort got that nod in November. Two months after Washington voters approved Referendum 74, the couple were legally wed in their synagogue.

High school sweethearts originally from Minneapolis, Ms Kibort and Ms Crocker had first been joined in a commitment ceremony in 1984, but waited to legally marry until they could do so in their own state.

That's a trend among same-sex couples, says Kirsten Ott Palladino, the Atlanta-based co-founder and editor in chief of EquallyWed.com, an online magazine devoted to same-sex weddings.

'As more states are legally recognizing same-sex marriage, couples are choosing to wait to marry in their home states,' says Ms Palladino. 'We're not seeing as many people flying to Massachusetts or New York for their big weddings.'

Ms Palladino also cites a growing interest in incorporating religion into same-sex ceremonies, as Ms Crocker and Ms Kibort did.

'For a time, there was a backlash against including religion in same-sex weddings. Now couples seem proud to put religion and cultural traditions back into their ceremonies,' says Ms Palladino.

There's more freedom these days to choose a wedding that reflects a couple's relationship and budget, according to Steven Petrow, author of Steven Petrow's Complete Gay & Lesbian Manners.

This generation of gays and lesbians is creating a new set of rites and rituals incorporating both old and new traditions, says Mr Petrow, who lives in Hillsborough, North Carolina, a state that doesn't allow same-sex marriage.

He cites one new tradition of sending the rings around to be blessed by all those in attendance. 'It's like a metaphor for a group hug,' says Mr Petrow. 'It's incredibly moving.'

Today's same-sex couples often go with non-traditional wedding party configurations.

'The maid of honor might be a man or the best man may be a woman,' Mr Petrow says. 'And honored attendants are often a mix of close friends and family.'

Often the couple walk down the aisle together, 'or if they have kids, the whole family may process,' he says.

Ms Crocker and Ms Kibort sent their two adult daughters, Emma and Hannah Kibort-Crocker, down the aisle before them.

Bringing back traditions: Now that gay marriage is becoming more mainstream, there is a growing interest in incorporating religion into same-sex ceremonies, as Ms Crocker and Ms Kibort did

'It was a very family wedding,' says Ms Kibort. 'My kids pulled a prank on me in the middle of the ceremony and it was a crackup. Everyone was laughing.'

Like these two women, many same-sex couples tying the knot are in mid-life, and have well-established relationships and children. While their parents may be given honored roles in the ceremony or reception, such as the first dance, many couples are planning and paying their own way.

It remains to be seen how younger same-sex couples will structure their weddings as they marry earlier in life.

Mr Petrow notes that while his generation of gays and lesbians had no expectation of getting married, today's kids are growing up expecting to have the choice.

And just because they have the right to marry doesn't mean a couple will choose to do so. 'It's impolite to hassle people - gay or straight - about getting married,' he says.

It is acceptable, he says, to ask how a same-sex couple who are getting married would like to be described.

While many choose 'husband and husband' or 'wife and wife,' he says it's a matter of respect to call them as they want. Listen to how they refer to themselves, and follow their lead.

Bigger issues at stake: 'We didn't want it to be a political event,' said Ms Crocker of their wedding (pictured). 'But [it] was bigger than us,' Ms Kibort says. 'It's a civil rights issue'

'Until five years ago, the standard title was "partner,"' says Mr Petrow. 'That's really changed.'

While many same-sex weddings are apolitical, many other couples are passionate about politics and choose to include it in their weddings, says Ms Palladino.

Ms Crocker and Ms Kibort included a reminder of their newly gained right by involving Seattle gay rights activist, former judge and former Deputy Mayor Anne Levinson in their ceremony, alongside Rabbi Jill Borodin.

'We didn't want it to be a political event. It's a wedding,' says Ms Crocker.

'We didn't want it to be a political event. It's a wedding . . . You're being asked to show up and love a member of your family'

'But our wedding was bigger than us,' Ms Kibort says. 'It's a civil rights issue.'

While political undertones are often present in same-sex ceremonies, Mr Petrow reminds guests, 'You're not being asked to vote for gay marriage by choosing to attend a wedding. You're being asked to show up and love a member of your family.'

Guests should decline to attend if they can't support the couple's relationship, he added. 'Same-sex weddings, like straight weddings, are at their heart about love and commitment. If you can't honor the couple, please stay home.'

Ms Crocker and Ms Kibort even bristle at the term 'gay marriage.'

'I don't gay park. I don't have gay lunch,' says Ms Kibort. 'You don't say you're going to an interracial marriage. It isn't a gay marriage. It's a marriage.'

However, despite being raised by two such talented creatives actress Rebecca Hall admits that she suffers terribly from shyness.

The British starlet has worked alongside some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including Eric Bana, Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck to name a few, but she still gets nervous doing everyday things.

Speaking to InStyle magazine she said: 'I get attacks of shyness when I'm paying for things in shops.

'That's weird. I was painfully shy as a child. Painfully. To the point where my parents would say, 'Have you made any friends yet?''

Although the 32-year-old claimed to have gotten over her shyness she confessed that she still suffers from it from time to time.

She told the magazine: 'But you get over it, don't you? Then it comes back and haunts you at weird times. Rooting for change in my pocket in the newsagent, that's when I get it.'

Although her shyness can be at times crippling, performing her talents is always something what she wanted to do.

She told the magazine: 'I'm really curious about people. I can't think of many jobs that let me explore that.

'I wanted to be an artist for quite a long time. Then a musician. I still would love to be a musician â€" a jazz pianist â€" if I was anywhere near disciplined but I can't do it for s**t.

'I'm probably a little bit 'jack of all trades, master of none.'

During a rather racy photoshoot with Instyle magazine, Rachel also discussed how she is now text buddies with screen legend Robert Downey Jr.

The two stars appear side by side in this year's blockbuster Iron Man 3, and after playing Maya Hansen in the superhero movie they formed a close bond.

When asked about what Downey Jr was like as a person she said: 'Everything you expect him to be and a little bit more really. His brain works at 100mph.

Rachel and Robert now text each other 'all the time' and she even has a nickname for him. She will text him and say 'What’s up, RDJ? A lot of people call him that.'

Iron Man 3 may be set to be a commercial success but working with talented actors was what attracted her to the movie.

She said: 'It's a big movie but has quality actors and I was genuinely fascinated by the idea of working with Robert Downey Jr.'

And now Johnny Depp has sparked rumours he has made a fresh start by moving to the New Forest.

The reports that Depp has relocated were fuelled by the 49-year-old actor popping into a local pub with his two children.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star stunned locals when he made an appearance with his two children Lily-Rose, 13, and Jack, 10,  as well as several other adults and the family dog at the Haven Bar and Restaurant in Lymington, Hampshire, on Easter Sunday.

According to reports, Depp ordered half a pint of lager at the venue.

But manager Christina Haines said that celebrity clientele are not unusual at The Haven.

She said: 'Chris Evans comes in quite a lot, so it is just normal for us.  We did not make a big deal out of it. I mainly spoke to his son, who seemed very precocious and kept me entertained.'

And fellow worker Helen Wood acknowledged: 'It was a little bit surreal, but we were professional and played it down.'

An image which appears to show the actor in the pub shows him wrapped up in grey wool coat and scarf, wearing a pair of sunglasses.

However, others have suggested that the customer may not have been Depp but a lookalike - adding that the young boy he was with had an English accent.

Depp has been spotted at various locations around the New Forest, including department stores, restaurants and Longleat safari park.

The actor, who can soon be seen in upcoming movie Lone Ranger, already owns properties in the UK - which are said to include a townhouse in Bath and a stately home in Norfolk.

In addition, Depp is the proud owner of residences in Los Angeles, Paris and the Bahamas.

Lindsay Lohan has deleted a tweet in which she claimed to be pregnant.

The actress confirmed that the message was indeed an April Fools' Day joke, writing: 'April Fools. Where's everyone's sense of humor?'

Lindsay, 26, posted an update on Tuesday morning after her message on Monday evening caused the rumour mill to go into overdrive.

Lohan - who is dating City Of The Sun guitarist Avi Snow - published the message 'Its official. Pregnant,' at around 10.30pm PST on Monday - although it was hours after the 12noon deadline for April Fools' Day jokes had passed.

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton also weighed in on the tweet last night and dragged Amanda Bynes into the joke writing:  'Win!! RT @AmandaBynes Hey hos! I just want you all to know that @lindsaylohan is having my baby and @PerezHilton is gonna be the godfather!'

The new father seemed to enjoy putting words into other people's mouths and wrote: 'She be truth-telling tonight!!! RT @lindsaylohan Its official. Pregnant... and @PerezHilton has a very large penis!'

Of course it was always doubtful Lindsay was pregnant, given she has been partying up a storm in Brazil over the past week.

Lohan's boyfriend Avi recently opened up about their relationship, describing her as 'a lot of fun'.

In his first interview since the pair were romantically linked, City Of The Sun guitarist Avi refused to officially confirm or deny his relationship with Lindsay, but didn't hold back in his compliments of the Mean Girls star.

Speaking to E! News at the band's gig at the Bootleg Theater in Los Angeles, Avi said of Lindsay: 'She's really awesome, and she's a lot of fun.'

Meanwhile Lindsay has demanded Adderall during her time in rehab.

The Mean Girls star has reportedly insisted she will only enter a court ordered treatment facility if she is allowed to have the prescription drug - used to treat Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder -  which she claims she needs to function, according to TMZ.

The starlet was recently sentenced to 90 days in rehab after pleading 'no contest' to charges for lying to police about driving during a car crash last June but has jetted to Brazil for some partying and promotional appearances before entering the facility, which has horrified her father.

He wrote: 'I am telling you now if you are with Lindsay in Rio or you booked it, and anything happens to my daughter, I am holding you personally responsible. Judging from what has happened to in the past, and the way she looks down there from the pictures in the media, it's not a good thing.
