It's the big night in the movie calendar as the stars of Hollywood head to Los Angeles to find out which films are to receive the biggest accolades in awards season.

So Naomie Harris is of course heading to the red carpet at Sunday night's Academy Awards, marking her first Oscars ceremony, despite knowing her film Skyfall has been largely snubbed by bosses at the prize giving.

But the actress doesn't seem to mind thanks to it being hailed at the EE BAFTA awards earlier this month, and in fact revealed her elation as she promoted the launch of the new Skyfall Train to celebrate the film being out on Blu-ray and DVD this week.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star, who resurrects Miss Moneypenny in the franchise, has now spoken out about her happiness at being part of the movie which picked up Best British Film at the glitzy bash.

Naomie spoke out during promotion to celebrate the latest 007 film now being out on Blu-ray and DVD as she took part in a special Skyfall train journey from London to Edinburgh.

On hearing the news the film picked up Best British Film at the BAFTAs she told the MailOnline: 'It was just a moment of elation, you know, it’s amazing how many people have turned out to see this movie and how much passion there is around this move and how well it’s done.

'It’s incredible but it’s always good to be recognised with in the industry as well and to have that, you know, seal of approval so it’s incredible to get Best British Film.

And she's still astounded it's become the biggest selling Bond of all time, adding to the MailOnline: 'Nobody expected this… As (director) Sam (Mendes) said while we were filming, it just felt like a blessed production in some ways.

'I know there was real difficulty with getting it off the ground at the beginning and funding and all this kind of thing but once it started it just felt like there was a real flow to it and it was a very easy production. No real big hiccups along the way.'

And the writers of the movie, Robert Wade and Neal Purvis agreed over their shock at Skyfall picking up the coveted BAFTAs title after getting snubbed by the Oscars, admitting they thought it would definitely go to 'Les Miserables'.

Naomie, as well as Wade and Purvis, spoke of their delight to the MailOnline after greeting journalists on the Skyfall train maiden voyage last Saturday - the first train to be named after a movie.

To mark its unprecedented success at the UK box office and the release on Blu- ray and DVD, East Coast train bosses unveiled the train on platform '007' at London King’s Cross Station, before it headed off on its way.

Naming the special train number 91007, it will now be taking the Flying Scotsman route from Edinburgh to London and will be permanently named Skyfall.

During the first trip Naomie, Wade and Purvis, were joined by producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, as they showed off the trains artwork, wrapped in pictures of the stars, including Dame Judi Dench in her final outing as 'M' and fellow Bond Girl Berenice Marlohe, who was unabel to attend the promotion at the last minute.

Ahead of the journey Naomie said: 'This train is absolutely amazing and what they’ve done with the livery is beautiful â€" I never thought that I would see my face on the side of a train.

'It says a lot about the success of Skyfall that it has become the first ever film to give its name to a train in the UK and it’s so exciting that it’s going into public service.'

In true spy style the passengers on the maiden voyage enjoyed Skyfall Martinis served by Erik Lorincz, the mixologist who collaborated on Skyfall, and were treated to a toast of champagne as the train crossed the Royal Border Bridge.

The train successfully completed its first public voyage, setting off on Monday at 5.40am.

And it's quite fitting that Skyfall is now the name of a train as Wade and Purvis revealed to the MailOnline on board that they actually came up with the idea of Skyfall's plot while on board a train themselves.

Naomie is currently anticipating the Oscars on Sunday, where she is to wear a Vivienne Westwood 'sweet wrappers' dress.

The film has only been nominated for five prizes at the 2013 Oscars, but mainly for technical prizes  - including titles for cinematographyand sound mixing.

Although it is also up for Best Song with Adele's track one of the favourites to pick up the accolade on Sunday evening.

Skyfall out on Blu-ray and DVD now from MGM and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.
