They split in 2004 but the custody battle for their children continued to wage on until 2008 in what became known as 'showbiz’s bloodiest battle'.

And it seems Brian McFadden might be looking to reignite that conflict once again, after claiming he never agreed to his daughters' lives being broadcast on his ex-wife Kerry Katona's reality television shows.

The former Westlife singer, who is father to Molly, 11, and 10-year-old Lily-Sue with Atomic Kitten singer Kerry, said in a new interview that he never wanted his girls to feature on the programmes.

He said: ‘I've never liked that. I think it's wrong. Maybe it isn't so bad when they're babies, but they're at school now. I never wanted them to be on the MTV show.

‘But there are two parents and Kerry's entitled to make her own choices.’

Brian - who is now married to model Vogue Williams - admits he and Kerry are no longer on speaking terms, adding that he always goes through his children's nanny when he arranges when to see them.

Asked if he has a relationship with the reality TV star now, he told Now magazine: 'No. Not at all, no. My relationship is with my children and all my dealings go through their nanny.

'They have a nanny who is with them 24 hours a day.'

However Briain's claim has been refuted by Kerry's spokesperson, who told MailOnline: 'Kerry's children do not have a nanny with them 24 hours a day except occasionally when Kerry is away working overnight.

'When she is not away she does not employ a nanny and does all the things normal mums do from the school run onwards.

'Unfortunately I can't comment on Brian's views on his children being filmed. He hasn't been heavily involved in any decision making on their upbringing as he hasn't been in the country, was rarely in touch generally and did not contribute financially to their welfare in terms of maintenance.

'It's interesting that these comments coincide with Brian being here on tour as a support act and needing to try and generate some sort of profile. I find it sad he chooses to do it in this way. '

Brian is no stranger to making controversial comments about his ex-wife as back in 2008 he claimed he was unhappy about the way his children had been brought up.

He told Heat at the time: ‘They [the kids] have got really terrible northern, Manchester accents. They're really common because of where they live and who they live with.’

While Brian still clearly has few issues with his ex-wife, Kerry also opened up about their relationship as she appeared on The Big Reunion.

The 32-year-old singer charted her highs and lows since leaving the band on the show, but it was clear that the breakdown of her first marriage to the Westlife singer was what first sent her life spiralling out of control.

Speaking on the ITV2 show she said: 'He left me. He got with somebody else and that absolutely destroyed me it made me feel a failure as a mother, as a wife.'

Meanwhile, Kerry has denied reports she is planning to wed for a third time after it was claimed former rugby star George Kay was planning a proposal when the couple take a romantic trip to Dubai next week.

The 33-year-old former rugby star - who has served six years in jail for blackmail - was reported to have splashed out £5,500 on a platinum diamond ring after winning the support of the Atomic Kitten singer's mother Sue.

But a spokesperson for the star has denied the claims, admitting while George is 'great for Kerry', it's 'far too early' for the couple to be considering marriage.

The spokesperson told MailOnline: 'The rumours are totally untrue. Things are going well with George and Kerry, he is a top lad, great for Kerry and great with the children.

'However, they are not rushing into anything other than looking forward to their first holiday together this week. It's far too early to be talking about things like marriage proposals and weddings.'
