Lady Gaga has had to disappoint thousands of her monsters after postponing several dates of her Monster Ball Tour after suffering an injury and being in 'chronic pain'.

The 26-year-old posted a message to her Facebook page on Tuesday to break the news to her fans and apologised for having to pull out of the shows.

She wrote: 'There's an unfortunate announcement coming out right now, concerning myself and the Born This Way Ball. I’m so sorry. I barely know what to say. I've been hiding a show injury and chronic pain for some time now, over the past month it has worsened.

'I've been praying it would heal. I hid it from my staff, I didn't want to disappoint my amazing fans. However after last night's performance I could not walk and still can't.'

She added: 'To the fans in Chicago Detroit & Hamilton I hope you can forgive me, as it is nearly impossible for me to forgive myself. I’m devastated & sad. It will hopefully heal as soon as possible, I hate this. I hate this so much. I love you and I’m sorry.'

On the singer's website her injury was described as 'synovitis, (severe inflammation of joints)' and it was confirmed that she has been told to rest on doctors orders.

Tuesday and Wednesday night's concerts in Chicago were postponed along with Saturday and Sunday's shows in Detroit and Hamilton respectively.

The website states that additional concerts are set to go ahead as planned.

The next scheduled show is set to be on Tuesday, February 19, in Philadelphia.

To add to Gaga's woes she is currently in a legal battle with her former personal assistant.

The Edge Of Glory singer is being sued by Jennifer O'Neill, who claims Gaga owes her $ 380,000 in overtime payments because she was forced to spend 24 hours a day with her, but the superstar insists the ex-staff member doesn't 'deserve' the money as she will just go 'and buy another tube top'.

Jennifer insists Gaga's diva demands during her 'Monster Ball' world tour in 2010 left her exhausted.

According to court documents, she claims she had zero privacy and was forced to share the same bed as the 26-year-old star, who would wake her up in the middl e of the night to change DVDs because she didn't want to walk across the hotel room.
