Lindsay Lohan may lose her house.
The troubled actress and her mother Dina are under threat of losing their mansion in Long Island, New York - which Lindsay recently moved back in to - after Chase Bank, who provided the mortgage for the property, served them court papers intending to foreclose the home on Thursday.
A process server, who tacked the court papers in an envelope reading 'Important Information Enclosed' on the front gate of the home in Merrick, Long Island, confirmed to the New York Post newspaper the notice was due to a mortgage issue.
Turning back time: Lindsay Lohan is reported to have moved back into her family home in Long Island
Lindsay, 26, reportedly left Los Angeles to return to her childhood home last month because she has no money left to continue renting her home in Beverly Hills, but TMZ counters that she's actually living in a Manhattan penthouse rent-free with a friend.
According to Radar Online: 'Lindsay is being forced to live at home with Dina because she can't afford any other options at the moment.
But on Thursday, they added: 'Lindsay was absolutely mortified and humiliated over the reports she was living back at home with Dina. She was thoroughly embarrassed that people knew how bad her finances are and exactly how broke she is. She immediately begged a friend to let her crash at their apartment in Soho.'
The Mean Girls actress' mother, Dina, has long been embattled with Chase Bank over their attempts to foreclose the property.
And Radar spoke to her ex-husband Michael who claimed the foreclosure was 'the wrath of God' being wrought upon Dina for her 'lies.'
Lindsay alleged that she gave her mum a $ 40,000 loan in October 2012 so she could pay back her debts and keep the house.
In a phone conversation with her father Michael Lohan, who recorded the call, she said: 'I was like, 'Give me my money back! Give me my 40 grand back that I just gave you!' '
When asked why she gave her mother the money, Lindsay said: 'Because she needs to keep her house.'
Home Sweet Home: Lindsay is said to be back at the family residence in Long Island after struggling with her rent in Beverly Hills
Lohan is reported to be living at the home again with her mother Dina, after moving back into the room she occupied as a teenager.
The New York Daily News Confidential claims that LiLo is 'spending her days and most nights back in her teenage bedroom on Long Island.'
Her Beverly Hills lease ran to this month but Lindsay has apparently been home for some time, that house is the same one that Bravoâs Million Dollar Decorators spent $ 200,000 renovating - with LiLo refusing to reveal the results on the show.
This week she filed a $ 1.1 million lawsuit against her 6126 clothing label partners over breach of contract.
Now the Liz and Dick star, who also has had her accounts frozen due to $ 233,904 in unpaid taxes, officially has 'nowhere to live' but home.
The report continues that the pair are watching TV together as Dina works on her book about domestic abuse.
But there's a silver lining as Lindsay can at least afford a car service in and out of Manhattan.
'Dinaâs working on a book at home. âA Parent Trappedâ is the working title,' says the source.
Living the high life: Lindsay is attending events in Manhattan apparently from her family base in Long Island
'She says itâs about surviving domestic abuse. Sheâs shopping it around now.'
Lohanâs father, Michael, said the move 'awesome' and believes it will help his daughter to be with family.
A representative for Lohan has yet to return Mail Online's request for comment.
Lindsay is still on probation stemming from her no contest plea on charges relating to a necklace theft back in 2011.
On January 30, she made a brief appearance in court where was told by the judge that she could still be found in violation of her probation - even if a jury finds her not guilty on charges relating to a car crash case from last summer.
During the same court appearance, a judge set a trial date of March 18th for the star over the case in which she is accused of lying to police and reckless driving, which she denies.
Ready for dinner: The star looked happy and relaxed as she sat at her table
But opening up about her recent troubles at the red carpet event, held at Cipriani in the Wall Street area of Manhattan, Lindsay said she has only got through the last few months with the help of her family.
Asked what has been keeping her sane, Lindsay replied: 'Family. You can't get through anything without the family. Family is everything.'
Meanwhile, her career is also stalling, with her performance in Lifetime biopic Liz & Dick being slammed by critics and new movie The Canyons being rejected by trendy film festival South by South West.
