Reality TV couple Charlie and Sabrina Balducci still together 11 years on - despite chaotic wedding day

Charlie and Sabrina Balducci, whose chaotic wedding day was captured on MTV's True Life reality show in 2002, have revealed that they are still happily married.

The tanned couple from Staten Island, New York, were followed on film for four months as they geared up for their big day more than a decade ago.

Many viewers were left speechless as the duo were seen screaming obscenities, arguing and having 'freak-outs' in front of the cameras and one memorable scene showed Mr Balducci verbally attacking a limo driver who was running late.

'[I'll] hunt you down... and I'll gut you,' he shouted down his mobile phone.

Opening up about their television debut Mrs Balducci told 20/20: 'Picture somebody in your house, following you at every event you did, every place you went, for four months.

'You've got a newborn baby, you're trying to plan a wedding.'

She revealed that she first heard about the show at her dress fitting.

'A woman came up to me and she said, ''I hear you in the room with your mom - you guys are hysterical,'' she recalled. 'So I came home, I said, ''Charlie, look, they're having this MTV contest.'' He jumped all over it.'

The Balduccis were one of three couples featured on True Life: I'm Getting Married and since their appearance they made every effort to get on with everyday life.

Today Mrs Balducci works in a hair salon, while her husband helps with the running of a nonprofit called NYC Arts Cypher, which arranges programs and events for aspiring artists.

The couple have two children.

Talking about the infamous limo scene Mr Balducci said he was angry because a priest had warned him not to be late.

'He pulls me to the side, he says, ''No, but there's something I don't want you to do.'' I go, ''What's that?'' He goes, ''Don't be late.''

'In defense of myself, I really did what any Staten Islander would have done in that situation.'

He added that Mrs Balducci 'had her freak-outs, too. It's just that my freak-out trumped everything else.'

Offering advice to other couples set to tie the knot he said: 'Don't look at the wedding as so much of a day, but, like, the springboard for a marriage, you know? If you guys can't plan a wedding together, you got to start to look at the marriage.'
