Bruce Willis has been labelled 'ignorant and incoherent' after an awkward interview on The One Show described as 'torture' by viewers.
The Hollywood actor was being interviewed by Matt Baker and Alex Jones to promote his new movie A Good Day To Die Hard, but was blasted by viewers of the BBC One teatime show after he appeared to snub questions by giving short answers and shrugging his shoulders.
Willis' interview on the show was likened to the now infamous Michael Parkinson interview with Meg Ryan back in 2003, which was described at the time as the most awkward 10 minutes of veteran presenter's career.
'Mumbling moron': Bruce Willis was blasted by The One Show viewers following an excruciatingly awkward interview on Wednesday night
Bizarrely, the only time Willis, 57, did open up during the live interview was to criticise the name of the film - which he insisted didn't make any sense.
While Baker was in the middle of praising the film, Willis only seemed interested in criticising it.
Cutting him off, Willis said: 'Let me ask you guys, what about the title? Are you confused by it?'
Jones admitted she did think the name was strange, with Willis then responding: 'I don't understand it. 'It's a Good Day to Die Hard'? No, I'm still working on it.'
Incoherent: Bruce appeared intent on discussing the title of his new movie A Good Day To Die Hard, which he said didn't make sense
Pushing through: Show presenters Matt Baker and Alex Jones did their best to encourage Bruce to chat about the film, but with little success
Even after after running through promotional clips of Willis as John McLane taking part in shoot outs and car chases, the German-born actor could only muster few positive words about the action movie before returning to criticism.
And as Baker tried to convince his guest that the name of the film wasn't too bad, Willis said: "It's a difficult title. A Good Day to Die Hard? It's like, have a sandwich and let's go shopping - then Die Hard.'
When an frustrated Baker asked, 'Is that would you would have called the film?', Willis then answered: 'It would have made about as much sense.'
The original: Bruce's interview was likened to when Michael Parkinson interviewed Meg Ryan back in 2003 in an interview described as the most awkward 10 minutes of his lengthy career
Following the excruciatingly awkward interview, viewers were quick to comment on the BBC's Points of View forum.
One wrote: 'It's not often that I feel sorry for Matt and Alex but this was torture. They desperately tried to ask questions and get something of interest out of him whilst he mumbled and hesitated and was generally incoherent.
'They obviously thought that they had a major coup getting a Hollywood A list star on the show but Willis showed himself to be little better than a mumbling moron.'
Another described the star as 'ignorant', adding: 'What was his problem because he was not interested at all why bother appearing like an idiot.
'This was a shameful appearance and full credit to the presenters who did a great job with an ignorant couldn't care less man.'
