They famously had a wild affair in 1994 - in an EastEnders love triangle dubbed Sharongate, after the busty blonde was caught out on tape confessing to sleeping with her husband's twin brother Phil Mitchell.
But in scenes which may put their viewers off their supper, producers have unbelievably decided Sharon Watts, played by Letitia Dean, is set to cheat on hunky ex-cop fiancé Jack Branning, played by Scott Maslen, with bald former heroin addict Phil Mitchell.
In an episode set to be broadcast next month Sharon and Phil, played by Steve McFadden, bond after Lola, played by Danielle Harold, flees with daughter Lexi - who in another astonishing plot twist, has been given foster care of his baby granddaughter.
Don't do it Sharon! The blonde kisses Phil Mitchell in scenes to be broadcast next month
An EastEnders source told MailOnline the pair's passion develops after the pair spend the day looking for Lexi.
'Lola has done a runner with Lexi and after an emotionally exhausting day, Phil and Sharon are drawn closer. When Sharon tells Phil a few home truths, they end up sharing a kiss', the insider said.
Fans of the BBC soap can only imagine the array of home truths Sharon chose from to tell her gruff-faced lover.

Viewers may have seen the plot coming, after a sinister Phil brutally prophesied on New Year's Eve that by the same time next year he would 'have Sharon.'
EastEnders bosses have refused to reveal if the pair start an affair or their kiss was simply a one-off - although with the character's rocky romantic history and the soap writers penchant for misery, the next few months are bound to make interesting viewing,
Meanwhile Nina Wadia, who plays Zainab Masood, has revealed she wanted her EastEnders alter-ego to die in a tragic car crash.
She's my daughter! Lexi does a runner with Lola - after she is reduced to breaking point over visitation rights
The 44-year-old actress recently admitted she would have preferred it if show bosses had killed off , and has now revealed it would have been 'great' to see the outspoken shop assistant perish in a huge explosion or a vehicle smash.
She said: 'I think [Zainab's exit] really works. But I actually asked for her to be killed off! I thought it would be great to see her jump out of a plane in a huge explosion, or get rid of her in a car crash.
'The producers said that Zainab wouldn't be killed off, and that was a nice compliment. The door's been left open in case I want to go back.'
Sharongate: the couple first got together in 1994, in a plot which ended in a nasty scene in the Queen Vic .
Nina says the departure of Marc Elliott - who played her onscreen son Syed Masood - from the BBC
One soap played a 'big' part in her decision to leave the programme because she 'felt out of sorts' filming the show without her best friend.
She added to Inside Soap magazine: 'It was a big factor me for, yes. Marc and I were very close friends and we laughed together more than anyone else.
'Everyone had a best friend who they connect with, so when he went, I felt out of sorts.'
