When Marc Jacobs first moved into 40 Mercer St in Manhattan's SoHo, he was paying a cool $ 30,000 per month. Now, five years later, the same apartment is up for rent starting March 1 for $ 37,500 a month.
The 2,476-square-foot condo in the Jean Nouvel-designed building includes three-bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, and a master suite hidden in a private wing with larger-than-life closet space.
The 49-year-old designer, who lives most of his time in Paris, reportedly first rented the sleek apartment (just a few blocks away from the Mercer Hotel, where he usually stays) with his then boyfriend Lorenzo Martone in 2009.

Meg Ryan rented a 2,500-square-foot spot in the building in 2010 for around $ 25,000 per month, and LeBron James was seen checking out one of the buildingâs soaring spaces.

Even Harry Potter himself - Daniel Radcliffe - purchased a condo in the building. He paid $ 4.3million and then began renting it out for $ 20,000 nearly straight away.
Wilbur Gonzalez, an agent at TOWN Residential, told the New York Post in 2009 when Mr Jacobs first moved in: 'Even in uncertain times, 40 Mercer continues to attract A-list clientele.'
Brokers Wilbur Gonzalez and Adam Taylor of TOWN Residential have condo's current listing, which faces South and West, and comes fully furnished.
Mr Nouvel, a Pritzker Prize-winner (the architecture equivalent of a lifet ime achievement award) certainly helps to pull in heavy-weights like Mr Jacobs, Ms Ryan and Mr Radcliffe.
The French architect is responsible for designing the Arab World Institute, the bullet-shaped Torre Agbar in Barcelona, the Musée du quai Branly in Paris and the Tour Verre in New York City.
His work on 40 Mercer offers floor to ceiling glass curtain walls with panes in vibrant hues of red and blue, and features a pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, gymnasium, landscaped courtyard and rooftop terrace.Â
Mr Jacobs has since moved to Manhattan's West Village, where he purchased a 4,500-square-foot Neo-Georgian townhouse which is part of the Superior Ink condo-torium for $ 10.495 million also in 2009.

He sought shelter at the Hotel Plaza Athénée on the Upper East Side.
