Anne Hathaway is developing quite a reputation for her long and often emotional acceptance speeches.

The Oscar nominated actress became a laughing stock on Twitter after making what some people deemed a drawn out and over the top thank you speech.

The 30-year-old American took full advantage of her time on stage as she accepted the award for best supporting actress at the 2013 Baftas and bizarrely thanked Les Miserables author Victor Hugo.

Unfortunately for Anne, her performance on Sunday night left something to be desired and was met with both ridicule and criticism from some corners.

One person sarcastically tweeted: 'If Hathaway thanked Victor Hugo, will Bigelow have to thank Bin Laden?'

While another said: 'Sigh. There Anne Hathaway goes again, being all surprised and honored and humble with a carefully rehearsed extemporaneous speech. #BAFTA'.

Anne remembered to thank everybody from her hair and make-up artist to Les Miserables author Victor Hugo.

She also shouted out her co-star Eddie Redmayne who was busy being sick backstage after coming down with illness that evening.

Anne joked: 'Hey Eddie, get well soon, I'd come and hold your hair â€" but, you know'.

The Dark Knight Rises star sounded a little ill herself and added: 'I think I'm coming down with laryngitis'.

Although the celebrity filled audience laughed along with her and applauded her touching words, viewers at home were less impressed with the length of it.

One person tweeted: 'Anne hathaway's acceptance speech was longer than her screen time'. (sic)

Another posted: 'Anne Hathaway... You came quite a way from surfing down staircases on a mattress #BAFTA but that speech was a liiiitle bit annoying'.

The general concensus seemed to be that Anne's protracted speech was less convincing than her award winning role.

'Every Anne Hathaway speech: *Attempts badabing joke, feigns humility, breathily compliments cast, thanks management, loves husband.* Vomit,' wrote one fan.

While another said: 'Bit of a wobbly speech, but a well deserved Bafta for Anne Hathaway #Bafta2013 #lesmiserables'.
