I like my hair to look 'lived in': Blake Lively reveals her beauty secrets ... and they are a lot more ordinary than you think

Few young actresses embody natural beauty better than Blake Lively, and her crowning glory is her luxurious golden hair.

And in a new interview with a fashion website she insists that she is just a 'wash and go' kind of girl.

Blake, who is the face of Gucci’s new fragrance Gucci Première, spoke to Refinery 29 about her hair and beauty secrets, explaining how she likes hair to look ‘lived in’ and to have a story,

Blake's signature style is to wear her tousled tresses loose around her shoulders, which she explains, is partly to help with her shyness

25-year-old Blake says she prefers to wear her hair loose and relaxed as opposed to opting for a structured style.

She said: ‘I love to have my hair down, I love to have my hair full…there’s something romantic about it.’

Describing her signature waves, she says they look romantic and effortless on the red carpet and prevent her from feeling stiff herself.

Blake, who married actor Ryan Reynolds last year, describes how she uses her famous flowing golden locks as a safety net to cover up the fact she is a naturally a shy person. 

This may come as a surprise to her legions of fans who have watched her confidently take on the role of Serena van der Woodsen in the hit series Gossip Girl.

Giving details of her hair routine on an average day, Blake says the key to achieving her stunning hair is to wash it and then dry it to the point where it is just damp.

She then ties her locks, which are naturally slightly wavy, into a ballerina bun until totally dry.

Blake says: ‘When the hair is released it has nice natural deep wave.’

The actress also says she tries to make red carpet appearances fun, and treats them like dressing up for a costume party.

Despite her natural glamour, the star admits she finds walking the red carpet stressful, especially when there are people focused on getting an embarrassing picture.

She says: 'You’re getting out of your car, which is an SUV, and there’s a guy lying on the floor trying to shoot up your dress.'
