From a furious snow blizzard at the weekend to relentless rain early this week, the past eight days of New York Fashion Week presented some serious sartorial challenges for the style set.
Only the bravest tackled the treacherous icy sidewalks in heels while the bitter wind did not lend itself to bare legs or, indeed, exposed skin anywhere.
True to form though, the world's most fashionable women did not let the inclement weather hamper their style.
Style in the snow: A belted green coat worn with knee-high boots, aviators and a felt hat, prove the military look is perfect for chilly weather (left), while winter white is the order of the day for another member of the style set
Too cool for style school: Shearling and a baseball cap make for excellent snow-wear, while a shirt tied at the waist and a tiny-but-bright bag add a pop of color
Photographs taken outside Lincoln Center by top street style photographer Lee Oliveira show how many used it as an opportunity to show off their most fabulous outerwear.
A belted green coat worn with knee-high boots, aviators and a felt hat proved that the military look is perfect for chilly weather, while winter white was the order of the day for another member of the style set, whose printed baseball cap and fur jacket made her fashion-forward look seem easy.
Not afraid of a bit of rain: One fashionista (left) knows a cocoon coat and knitted hat are all she needs in wet weather - her double denim, just seen, and white heels give her added style cred. Another (right) co-ordinates her umbrella with her monochrome ensemble, making for a swinging Sixties look
Another braved the chill in shearling, and yes, another baseball cap, but wore her coat open so that we could see her tiny red-and-turquoise bag peeking through beneath.
A woolly pink hat and patchwork coat married color-blocking and graphic themes perfectly, while a splash of bright red against a statement cream coat looked as fun as it did stylish.
When the temperatures warmed up and the rain set in, the fashion week crowd had to change tack again though.
Bold and brilliant: A splash of bright red against a statement cream coat looks as fun as it does stylish (left), while a woolly pink hat and patchwork coat marry color-blocking and graphic themes perfectly (right)
Showing them how it's done: Hat? check. Warm coat? Check. Flats? Check. All the right ingredients for braving the Lincoln Center snow, and yet effortlessly cool
This time, damp weather threatened to frizz perfectly-coiffed hair and puddles posed threats to new-season footwear.
It was no sweat for one fashionista, though, who knew a cocoon coat and knitted hat were all she'd need - her double denim, just seen, and white heels lent added style cred.
