She grew up to become one of the world's most famous brides.
Eighteen years earlier however, the Duchess of Cambridge was starring at another wedding.
This time she was a slightly gawky fresh-faced bridesmaid at the first wedding of her controversial uncle, Gary Goldsmith in 1993.

This charming family picture, which has not been seen in public before this week, shows the future Queen in a puff-sleeved pink dress with roses at the neckline and flowers in her hair.
Kate, who would have been 11 at the time, smiles nervously in one shot with her mother, Carole, and sister Pippa, then nine.
Even with a rather severe up-do, somewhat unflattering blue hat and a brightly-patterned dress, Carole still cuts a dash.
Another happy family shot shows a rather self-conscious Kate with her father Michael, brother James, then six and a proud pageboy, Uncle Gary (sporting a full head of blonde hair, unlike today) and her maternal grand-parents Ronald and Dorothy Goldsmith.

Dorothy is widely credited with setting her family on the road from poverty to prosperity â"Â earning the nickname âLady Dorothy' along the way.
It is not known where the wedding was held but it was clearly a lavish occasion as Goldsmith, who was in his late twenties when he married his bride, known only as Miranda, was already a millionaire through his recruitment business.
The marriage did not last long, however, and there were no children. Last year the Mail revealed that tattooed Goldsmith had married his fourth wife, convicted fraudster Julie-Ann Brown.
Yesterday he was accused of cashing in on his niece after revealing intimate details of Kate's personal life and romance with Prince William in Hello! magazine.
The interview featured previously unseen family snaps such as the wedding shot.
St James's Palace has declined to comment on the deal and it is not known whether the Middleton family gave their blessing for the interview.
